Seyla Benhabib is awarded Meister Eckhart Prize and Honorary Degree

Seyla Benhabib has been awarded the Meister Eckhart Prize of the University of Cologne and the Identity Foundation in Germany, for her contributions to ethics and political theory. Professor Benhabib’s work has focused on democracy, cosmopolitanism, feminism, critical theory, and Hannah Arendt. She holds a joint appointment in Political Science and Philosophy. She received her PhD in 1977 from Yale University.

This coming spring, Benhabib will also be awarded an Honorary Degree from the University of Georgetown’s Graduate School.
