Reier entered the Joint Program in Classics and Philosophy (philosophy track) in 2014. He has previously studied at the University of Oslo and the University of Toronto. Reier’s main interests are ancient philosophy and metaphysics. He has particular interests in Stoic philosophy, mereology, ontology, grounding, monism and panpsychism. He wrote his master’s thesis on Cicero’s De Natura Deorum and why the Stoics thought that the whole physical cosmos is a living god; related to this is the question of when one may reason from property of part to property of whole and vice versa, with which he still preoccupies himself in times of leisureā€
