Justin Khoo (MIT) will be joining us to give a talk entitled, “Bounding Conditionals”.

Abstract: Indicative and subjunctive conditionals bear a frustrating relationship to material conditionals and strict conditionals (respectively). Indicatives seem at once equivalent to material conditionals and stronger than them. And subjunctives seem both equivalent to strict conditionals and weaker than them. I'll try to sort this all out, arguing that we should be both contextualists and nonfactualists about conditionals.
