Title: Realism about Universals and Divine Aseity”

Abstract:
It is often alleged that realism about universals creates problems for the doctrine that God, and only God, exists “a se”, everything else depending upon God for its existence. But there are different reasons to believe in universals, and different roles they are called upon to perform. When the differences are properly recognized, the main motivations for realism can be respected, and universals recognized, without running afoul of divine aseity.
