Title: Eudaimonism and Epicurus

Abstract:
I am skeptical of the claim that there is a robust, unified "eudaimonist framework" that all (or almost all) Greek ethical theories share and that distinguishes them from more modern ethical theories. In this paper I critically examine some elements of the "eudaimonist framework" as traditionally conceived and consider the relationship of Epicurus' ethics to them.
